These vitamins, based on the Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 (AREDS2) by the National Eye Institute, are the recommended supplements for your eye health. These recommended vitamins help to support your eye health in various ways, such as pigment growth, protects against cell damage, and much more. Here are the essential vitamins for eye health:

  •  Lutein/Zeaxanthin
    • These are carotenoids which are also pigments that are found in plants and your retinas. Supplementing these carotenoids will help to increase the total amount in your retinas. By increasing carotenoids in your eyes they can help to protect your eyes from blue and UV light damage.
  • Zinc
    •  Zinc, an antioxidant, helps to protect your eyes from cell damage.
  • Copper
    • Zinc naturally reduces your ability to absorb copper and is needed to prevent a copper deficency.
  • Vitamin B1 (thiamine)
    • Thiamine, or Vitamin B1 is a key vitamin for your eye health. Known for it's ability to reduce inflamation and for being known as the "anti-stress" B Vitamin.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids
    • Docosahexaenic Acid (DHA) found in many fish products is beleived to help with the development of retinal cells. Other studies have shown that individuals with that consume more Omega-3 fatty acids, specifically DHA and EPA (Eicosapentanic Acid) are less likely to have Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). Don't forget DPA either, it's shown to help you age healthier and improve the absorbsion of DHA and EPA.
